DELIVERY

All material is delivered to our projects by JPF or our installation technicians. We arrange products to be delivered safely and conveniently for the install crew and our clients.  Hardwood or vinyl flooring should be stored onsite at the property several days before installation.  Early storage minimizes product failure by humidity or temperature as per manufacturing requirements to acclimatized.

CLIMATE, HUMIDITY, & MOISTURE

Flooring material can expand, and contract based on the humidity and moisture levels present in the space. We ask our clients to check the humidity, temperature, and warmth of the space(s) to receive products that must be confirmed before scheduled delivery. This gives enough time to adjust these measures for the product to sit. Warranty is affected by site conditions not meeting standards when gapping to product failure.

DEMOLITION

Site demolition has some important aspects for new and old properties. JPF takes appropriate precautions for safe demolition, especially with asbestos. Spaced not cleared by JPF may have additional floor preparation applied.  Within our quote or added as a change order for installation requirements of the product.

CLEARING THE AREA / FURNITURE LIFT

We ask that our clients remove all contents such as cabinets, furniture, and obstructions from the work area before installation. JPF offers this service upon request from our clients for an additional cost as well. Please request during quoting phase.

EXISTING FLOORS

Installation over an existing floor requires the installer to consider potential issues related to moisture damage, adhesive failure, and fastener failure. JPF reviews the adhesive and fastening specific fictions by the manufacturer requirements.

Acceptable products for floor coverings include solid hardwood, linoleum, terrazzo, ceramic tile, and other moisture sealing floors.

Unacceptable products for floor coverings include carpet, needle punch felt, edge-glued linoleum, and other moisture-absorbing floorings.

SECURED PREMISES (OFFICE BUILDINGS & MULTIFAMILY DWELLINGS)

During our pre-construction phase, JPF will review access to the premises. Areas for use such as corridors, hallways, elevators, and loading docks must be accessible. If the property has security and access requirements, we ask our clients to prepare these procedures for all JPF staff in advance.

FUNCTIONAL ELECTRICITY, HEAT & WATER

Phases for flooring installation are generally one of the last trades involved in the construction process. We ask that adequate power for the installer’s electrical tools, light, water, ventilation, and heat or air conditioning will be available up to 72 hours before and during the installation.

OCCUPANCY IN THE SPACE

Installation in an occupied space can create challenges due to the additional logistical required. Our clients are informed of possible dust, odour, wet surfaces that most important is the safety of those in the surrounding areas. We will inform occupied guests of products installed for smell and cautioned areas tapped off for installation.

CHANGE ORDERS OUTSIDE OF SCOPE

The initial quote from your JPF representative is only an estimate of work to be done. During installation, there is a possibility of unknowns during the process of installing products. Additional charges may apply for more floor preparation or removal. We have possible water damage floors with structural damages, unsecured floors, uneven subfloors, and asbestos floors that are not always detected until the installation process has begun.

BASEBOARDS

Selections of baseboard such as carpet base, rubber base, or millwork. Just like having a smooth and ready surface to receive flooring products, it’s the same for wall surfaces. To have the floor base installed. Depending on the wall structure and age of the property wall base may not be perfectly straight. Our expectations for finishing spaces are to install all products with exceptional results. JPF representative will discuss all options for our clients.

SEAMS & WASTAGE

With certain types of carpet or vinyl sheet goods, we will have finishing seams for rolled products. Our role is to make seam installation as unnoticeable as possible. The direction and low traffic seam installations are reviewed by JPF, and/or by the installation team with our clients to confirm the best install.

PAINT & DRYWALL REPAIRS

While precautions are taken, it is possible during installation there will be scuffs to paint, trim, baseboards, and minor drywall repairs necessary. These repairs are at the homeowner’s expense. If a painting trade has been involved in construction touch-up scheduling be planned after the flooring installation has been completed.

CLEAN UP

The installers will perform a post-installation inspection with you to ensure your complete satisfaction. After the installation, they will remove all scraps & packing from new materials. Disposal of excess material or existing is the responsibility of JPF unless authorized of waste bins on site. Every effort is made to minimize dust, however, depending on the scope of work. It is to be expected there will be residual dust, clean-up of this is the homeowner’s responsibility.

LIMITED WARRANTY

JPF warrants a full-year workmanship warranty on all installation. Each manufacturer carries its specific warrant on new materials installed. JPF does not cover damages caused by abuse, neglect, or improper uses/care/cleaning. Manufacturer’s care & maintenance instructions will follow upon completion.
